Who We’re Looking For

We're looking a motivated and experienced Head of Engineering (f/m/d) who will who will help us shape our engineering team, drive the company to the next level, and have the most direct influence on our success.

You will be leading the cross-functional teams working on our scheduling solutions and growth. As the Head of Engineering you are the sparring partner for the Director of Product Management - Scheduling. You make sure we have the systems, processes, and frameworks to execute consistently at scale. You will be reporting directly to the CTO.

Ideally you have

  • 4+ years of experience in managing technical teams and additionally a background of 6+ years in a tech role (engineering, data science, system architecture, DevOps, etc.).
  • You have a passion for SaaS products with a great user experience.
  • You have led product development of scalable B2B tools with millions of users.
  • You have a data driven and growth mindset.
  • You enjoy supporting people and find satisfaction in facilitating the success of teams and individuals.
  • You have worked for several years with any of the common agile practices and understand the complexity of this endeavour.
  • You manage highly stressful work situations and do not allow your stress to bleed out to your team.
  • You are a team player, full of empathy and intuition.
  • You have a deep knowledge of the latest web technologies and APIs.
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent English is mandatory.

What the role involves

  • You are accountable for setting-up teams for success. You shape the structure around teams and individuals. You hire the right people to make teams and the organization more successful. You manage the budget, controlling and strategic planning of hiring. You care about tools or even the office environment, when necessary. You are hands-on removing all impediments in the organization to make our teams successful.
  • You can lead the decision-making process, weighing up the pros and cons, of adopting new technologies to solve novel problems
  • You manage dependencies of your teams with all stakeholders, including product managers, third parties, vendors and suppliers.
  • You are responsible for the individual mastery and enable your people to grow and foster their mastery skills and career. You identify improvement areas in their functional, non-functional or soft skills by supporting them in their professional development.
  • You live a transparent feedback culture and are eager to lead by example. You reflect and continuously improve yourself and everything around you.
  • You translate business requirements and process plans into technical specifications for software development.
  • You provide hands-on technical guidance, including system designs, leading proof of concepts and technology evaluations.
  • You can advise the team members in slicing piece of work based on user value.
  • You can successfully communicate and build awareness and general agreement for significant changes that impact the entirety of the technology team.
  • You help your team find the correct balance between the 'quality first' and 'ship it' mentality and ensure code can be supported long term.
  • You can analyze and identify sources of conflict, facilitate discussions, help the teams find solutions, and work on them in order to eliminate the source of disagreement. You can identify early signs of conflict or toxicity and properly step into mediation.

We're a tight-knit team of 100+(or so) spread out over four different countries. We’ve got our home-base in Zurich and awesome offices in Berlin, Belgrade, Atlanta, and NYC. 

We’re not a huge company so our team structure enables us to quickly implement new ideas before they get stale on the corporate ladder. Everyone here is encouraged to contribute or experiment, and if we’re in agreement about a new decision we go for it.
